  • Workshops are charged by the hour and that I see the amount of time estimates to complete. However the amount of time will fluctuate depending on the artist.
  • All projects are completed in studio and I cannot take materials home to complete.

In this clay workshop, you’ll sculpt this hand-built planter from stoneware clay. You’ll create beautiful scaled textures and design your very own mermaid. After building, you’ll book a second session to make your mermaid magical by adding brightly coloured underglaze paints! We’ll fire it in the kiln and it’s yours to take home 7 days later.

Cost $15/hr. For only $5 extra share a station with a friend or family member!
Materials Brown, brown speckle or white speckle stoneware clay, glazes
Techniques and Skills
You Will Learn		 Hand building, glazing
Approx. Size 5in height × 3in width (excluding tail length)
Ages

Family Workshop: ages 6+ (children ages 6-12 must be joined by an adult participant who is also registered in the workshop)
Recommended Minimum Booking Times

Building time: 1.5–2 hours
Glazing time: 1–1.5 hours (you can book your glazing time 7 days after your building day)

As you would expect, it is really hard to know exactly how much time you will need. Every artist is different and often you may want to practice a bit before making your final piece.
Sessions Required 2 or more. You will need to attend the studio for at least 1 building session and 1 glazing session as we will need to fire the clay before you can glaze.
